Digital SAT - Devices Not Allowed in the Test Center
To ensure a fair testing environment, there are certain devices and aids that are not permitted in the test center.
Here's a clear list of what you can't bring:
- Mobile Phones: While you can use your phone to show your admission ticket during check-in, it must be collected or stored away from desks after check-in.
- Smartwatches and Wearable Tech: This includes devices like fitness trackers. Simple digital watches or analog watches are okay.
- Audio Players or Recorders, Notebooks, Bluetooth Devices: These should not be brought into the test center. This also includes wireless earbuds or headphones.
- Separate Timers: These are not allowed, so be sure not to bring them.
- Cameras or Photographic Equipment: Any kind of camera or equipment for taking photos or videos is prohibited.
- Highlighters or Colored Pencils: Leave these at home.
- Books or References: With the exception of those approved for English language learner support during in-school administrations.
- Compasses, Rulers, Protractors, Cutting Devices: These should not be brought into the test center.
- Papers of Any Kind: This includes scratch paper.
- Earplugs: Please refrain from bringing these as well.
- Unacceptable Calculators: Specifically, those with computer-style keyboards (QWERTY), paper tape, noise-making capabilities, or requiring a power cord are not allowed.
- Privacy Screens: These are not permitted.
- Weapons or Firearms: For everyone's safety, these are strictly prohibited.
Penalties for Having Prohibited Devices
If a prohibited device is seen or heard during the test, serious consequences may follow:
- Immediate Dismissal: You may be asked to leave the test center right away.
- Score Cancellation: Your test scores may be canceled.
- Device Inspection: The device may be inspected for any potential violations.
The test administration staff is committed to upholding these rules to ensure a fair testing environment for all students. They may collect and hold prohibited devices, or ask you to place them in your backpack away from your desk, even during break periods. Please be aware that College Board is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal items, including electronic devices, while you're in the test center.
