Digital SAT - Getting Your Device Ready
Before you dive into the digital SAT, it's important to ensure your device is up to snuff. Here's a quick rundown of what you need to know:
1. Compatible Devices
You can use Bluebook on various devices, such as Windows laptops or tablets, Mac laptops, iPads, or school-managed Chromebooks. However, it won't run on a mobile phone. For a detailed list of devices not allowed, check here.
2. Tech Readiness
Ahead of test day, make sure to download the Bluebook app onto your chosen device. Then, 1 to 5 days before your test, do a brief exam setup. This process checks if your device meets all the requirements, downloads your test, and generates your admission ticket. It's also important to know about the ID requirements for the test day.
Quick Tip: You can either print your admission ticket or email it to yourself for easy access on test day.
3. Downloading Bluebook
If you're using a personal device, feel free to download the Bluebook application right now and start getting familiar with it.
For those with school-managed devices, if you're able to download applications, you can handle this step on your own. If not, simply ask your school to install Bluebook for you. If you have questions about Bluebook, check our Bluebook FAQ.
4. Device Must-Haves
On test day, remember these essentials:
- Your device should be able to connect to Wi-Fi.
- Ensure your device is fully charged; it'll need to stay on for 3 to 4 hours. It's a good idea to bring your device's power cord or a portable charger, just in case.
- If you're taking an AP Exam on an iPad, you'll also need an external keyboard.
For a detailed list of device requirements, check out the official guidelines.
For AP students, if you're testing on a school-managed device, touch base with your teacher or school's AP coordinator about when Bluebook will be installed. If you're using a personal device, go ahead and download Bluebook now.
For SAT students on school-managed devices who can't download the app themselves, simply fill out a short form, and we'll get in touch with your school to make sure everything is set up correctly.
Now that you're all set on the tech front, you'll be ready to tackle the digital SAT with confidence! For more tips on preparing, check out our Easy Prep Tips for Success.
