Digital SAT - ID Requirements
Your admission ticket is an important piece, but it's not the only thing you need to enter the test center. Here's a guide to make sure you're all set:
What to Expect
When you arrive at the test center, staff will carefully check your admission ticket and photo ID against the test center roster. It's essential that all details match. For example, you can't use a nickname on one document and your full name on another. If you forget your valid ID, you'll need to return home and retrieve it; your seat won't be held.
ID Checklist
Your ID must meet these criteria:
- It must be a valid, unexpired government-issued or school-issued photo ID.
- The document must be an original, physical copy (no photocopies or electronic versions).
- Your full legal name on the ID should match your admission ticket precisely, including the order of names.
- The ID should have a recent, clear photo that matches your appearance on test day and the one you provided during registration.
- It should be in good condition with clearly readable English text and a visible photograph.
Acceptable ID Examples
- Government-issued driver's license or non-driver ID card
- Official school-produced student ID card from your current school (valid until the end of December of the current year)
- Government-issued passport or U.S. Global Entry identification card
- Government-issued military or national identification card
- SAT Student ID Form (only for students under 21 and prepared by the current school or a notary)
Unacceptable ID Examples
- Any document that doesn’t meet the requirements
- Worn, torn, scuffed, or otherwise damaged documents
- Electronic documents presented on a device
- Tampered or digitally altered documents
- Documents with statements like "not valid as identification"
- Credit or debit cards, even those with a photo
- Birth certificates, Social Security cards, employee ID cards, etc.
More About Names
If you need to update your name after registration, contact Customer Service at least 30 days before your test date. Middle names and initials are optional, but if provided, the middle initial must match the first letter of your middle name on your ID.
More About Photos
It's crucial that test center staff can authenticate your identity from your presented ID. If they can't, you might not be allowed to enter or take the test. Your score could even be withheld or canceled.
ID Requirements Apply All Day
Always have your ID on you during the test, including breaks. You may be asked to show it multiple times throughout the administration.
If You're 21 or Older
If you’re 21 or older on test day, only a government-issued photo ID like a driver’s license or passport is accepted. Student IDs aren’t valid for test takers in this age group.
Testing Outside Your Home Country
If you're testing in a foreign country, you must use a valid passport as your ID. The only exception is a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC), which can be used instead of a passport.
Testing in Specific Countries
For specific countries like Ghana, Nepal, Pakistan, Nigeria, India, Jordan, Korea, Thailand, UAE, and Vietnam, there are specific ID requirements. These include valid passports, national ID cards, or specific government-issued cards. Always ensure you're aware of the specific ID rules for your testing location.
By adhering to these ID requirements, you'll ensure a smooth testing experience. Remember, compliance is crucial to protect the integrity of the testing process.
